How to Research Your Historic House – Part I
The Charlestown Preservation Society in conjunction with the Charlestown Branch - BPL invites you to explore the rich story of your home in a two-part workshop series.

Every home has a story to tell. Join us for an interactive workshop that will guide you through the process of uncovering your home’s unique history — from when it was built, to who lived there, to how it may have been altered over time. Led by our Protect Historic Charlestown Committee, this session will introduce you to accessible research methods and resources that will help you trace your home’s past and establish its original build date. Whether you’re a homeowner, renter, or simply curious, you’ll leave with the tools and inspiration to begin (or deepen) your historical research journey. *Please feel free to bring your laptop or tablet to live-access resource links.
The information you uncover may also support an application for one of our Bronze Historic House Markers, awarded to homes and buildings in Charlestown that are over 100 years old.
Be sure to sign up for our follow-up event, where you can ask questions, share your discoveries, and get advice on next steps from our team and your neighbors. Whether you’re continuing your research or just getting started, we’d love to see you there!
