We’re gearing up for an incredible stretch of celebrations, commemorations, and community fun as we mark the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Bunker Hill. Over the next 12 days, more than 35 events—produced by a coalition of local, state, and federal partners—will take place across Charlestown and Gloucester.
We’ve highlighted some of the key happenings below to help you make the most of this historic week!
Friday, June 13, 2025
Revolution Ignited Festival (A CPS Event!)
Time: 5:30 PM – 9:00 PM
Location: City Square Park
Kick-off event for the weekend with live music from the Russ Gershon Band, “Revolutionary Voices” program host Jonathan L. Allen and surprise guests, food trucks, and local restaurant specials, family activities, and community fun. Free and open to all, registration recommended.

Faces and Places: Charlestown 1775–2025
Friday – Tuesday
Location: City Square Park + multiple Charlestown sites
Take a self-guided tour through Charlestown featuring signs that share the real stories of those who fought in the Battle of Bunker Hill—soldiers and civilians, free and enslaved, British and American. Each stop reveals a different voice from June 17, 1775. Hosted by Revolution 250 and the Charlestown Preservation Society.

Flag Day Ceremony, and U.S. Army 250th Anniversary (Part I)
Time: 11:00 AM
Location: Bunker Hill Monument
The U.S. Army 3rd Infantry Regiment Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps and the Commander-in-Chief’s Guard will provide both music and military drill demonstration on the northeast quadrant of the Bunker Hill Monument grounds before completing a procession to the Training Field where a flag retirement ceremony will take place.
Flag Day Ceremony, and U.S. Army 250th Anniversary (Part II)
Time: 12:00 PM – 12:30 PM
Location: Bunker Hill Monument
Dozens of future U.S. Army Soldiers will take the oath of enlistment to serve in the U.S. Army. The New England Recruiting Battalion will host these future Soldiers as they commit to the defense of the Nation through service in the U.S. Army.

Celebrate the 250th Anniversary of Bunker Hill, Flag Day & the U.S. Army’s 250th Birthday in Revolutionary Style! 🇺🇸

Promise of Liberty Exhibit Opening & Tour
Time: 1:00 PM
Location: Bunker Hill Museum
Unveiling of a new exhibit exploring Revolutionary Boston through documents and stories. Guided tour and curator-led artifact workshop at 1:00 PM.
Act Worthy of Yourselves: A Reimagining of Joseph Warren’s Funeral
Time: 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM
Location: King’s Chapel, Boston
Historical play imagining the long-delayed 1776 funeral of Dr. Joseph Warren. A moving meditation on loss, legacy, and revolution. Purchase tickets in advance here.
Concert on the Monument
Time: 5:00 PM-7 PM
Location: Bunker Hill Monument
A fun and engaging community concert featuring live music at the base of the Bunker Hill Monument. This year we’ll once again enjoy hearing the music of Jinty McGrath- a highly sought-after Irish musician in the Greater Boston area. Host: Bunker Hill Parade Committee.

Two Centuries of Glory, Bunker Hill Monument 200th Anniversary
Time: 10:00 AM
Location: Bunker Hill Monument
Hosts: Bunker Hill Monument Association, US Army.
Historical reenactment of the 1825 laying of the monument cornerstone, with costumed interpreters and period readings.
Time: 3:30 PM – 4:45 PM
Location: Monument Grounds
Wreath-laying, commemorative speeches, and a visit to Dr. Joseph Warren’s Tomb.
Time: 6:00 PM
Location: Old South Meeting House, Boston
Prominent dignitaries will speak the very same toasts given at the 1825 celebration. Vocal quartet plus string, brass, and wind player accompaniment.

Ecumenical Service & Procession
Time: 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM
Location: St. Francis De Sales Church
A solemn interfaith service honoring the fallen, followed by a community procession to the Monument Grounds.
Bunker Hill Day Ceremony: A Tribute to Higher Ground
Time: 3:15 PM – 4:45 PM
Hosts: National Park Service, Bunker Hill Monument Association, American Legion J.W. Conway Bunker Hill Post 26.
Location: Bunker Hill Monument Grounds
Keynote speakers, musical performances by the U.S. Army Field Band, and reflections on the enduring legacy of Bunker Hill.
Saturday/Sunday, June 21/22, 2025
Battle of Bunker Hill 250th Reenactment
Time: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Saturday); 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM (Sunday)
Location: Stage Fort Park, Gloucester, MA
A two-day living history experience featuring tall ships, fort-building, tactical demonstrations, and dramatic reenactments of the June 17, 1775 battle. Meet historical interpreters, explore life on both sides of the conflict, and witness the pivotal moments of America’s first major Revolutionary War battle.
